The 2026 BMW X7 carries on as the G07 LCI introduced in 2023. Malaysia’s range comprises the xDrive40i Design Pure Excellence and xDrive40i M Sport, both CKD seven-seaters. Each has a 2,998 cc 48V mild-hybrid petrol powertrain producing 387 hp, paired with an automatic transmission and AWD. iDrive 8.5 reaches the X7 through an over-the-air update.
Which variant to buy
Most buyers should choose the xDrive40i Design Pure Excellence at RM635,800. It shares its 2,998 cc 387 hp 48V mild-hybrid petrol powertrain, AWD, automatic transmission and seven-seat layout with the RM699,800 xDrive40i M Sport. On paper, the RM64,000 step buys M Sport trim, not added power, drivetrain changes or extra seats. Pay more only if the M Sport’s specific equipment matters to you; inspect the specification before signing.
Verdict
The X7’s core specification is clear: seven seats, AWD and 387 hp from a 2,998 cc mild-hybrid petrol powertrain. At the entry point, it costs RM26,800 more than the Porsche Cayenne. The Design Pure Excellence is the rational starting point for the same drivetrain and seating capacity, while the M Sport needs a convincing equipment case to justify its extra RM64,000.
