2026 Zeekr X shown at KLIMS – RWD, AWD variants, more features, up to 230 kW DC; from RM160k-180k est

The 2026 Zeekr X that was updated earlier this week is on display at the ongoing 2026 Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS), among the brand’s exhibits which also include the 9X SUV and the 009 Grand MPV for which the order books opened yesterday.

The brand’s most compact model in Malaysia continues to be offered in two variants; the Premium with a single-motor powertrain, and the Flagship that gets a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive configuration.

As announced earlier this week, pricing is estimated to be from RM160,000 to RM180,000, which would make its pricing marginally higher than the current model, which is priced from RM155,800 for the Premium, to RM172,800 for the Flagship.

Exterior revisions are minimal for the 2026 update of the Zeekr X, except for a new 19-inch wheel design on the Premium and a black paint finish for the existing multi-spoke wheel design on the Flagship. New colours are available for each variant, with Porcelain Pink for the Premium, along with Onyx Black and Matte Khaki Green for the Flagship.

Here, the doors of the 2026 X are now operated by buttons on the B- and C-pillars to open them instead of flush door handles on the current car. The front doors get powered operation, and the B-pillars have an interactive screen that serves as a charging status indicator.

Revisions to the cabin of the 2026 X include touch buttons below the steering wheel airbag housing, while the centre console now gets dual phone holders including a cooled Qi wireless device charger, twin cupholders as well as covered storage (previously open). The centre armrest houses a new heated and cooled storage compartment, while the rear luggage compartment has grown from 362 litres to 404 litres.

Displays in the 2026 X are unchanged from before, and the model continues to sport a 14.6-inch infotainment touchscreen and an 8.8-inch driver’s instrument display. The ventilated front seats with massage are no longer standard across both variants, as the Premium now does without, leaving these reserved for the Flagship.

Powertrains are upgraded too, with the Premium starting the range with a 340 PS/373 Nm single rear motor, up from the current base variant’s 272 PS. Its 0-100 km/h time however remains unchanged at 5.8 seconds. The Flagship gets uprated to 496 PS and 573 Nm, improving its 0-100 km/h time by 0.1 second to 3.7 seconds.

Storing the energy in the Premium is a 61 kWh Energee LFP battery that offers up to 415 km of range on the WLTP standard, down from the previous base variants’ 440 km rating. The dual-motor Flagship has gained battery range, increasing to 445 km WLTP despite retaining the 66 kWh CATL NMC battery.

The new base variant now supports up to 230 kW DC charging, enabling a 10-80% recharge in 18 minutes, and AC charging gets improved to 11 kW, which brings a full charge in 7.5 hours. The Flagship variant gains quicker AC charging too, at 22 kW, enabling a 0-100% charge in 4.5 hours. DC charging in the Flagship is up to 150 kW, which brings a 10-80% charge in 30 minutes.

Safety and driving assistance features include seven airbags, AEB, ACC with stop-and-go, lane centring assist, auto lane change, evasive steering assist, blind spot monitoring, front and rear cross traffic alert, rear collision warning, parking AEB, driver attention monitor and a door opening warning.

  • iCaur Malaysia upgrades battery, EV component warranty to 10 years for all 2026-registered units

iCaur Malaysia upgrades battery, EV component warranty to 10 years for all 2026-registered units

iCaur Malaysia has announced that it has delivered to date over 3,000 vehicles nationwide, less than a year after the launch of its first model – the 03 – in September 2025. Also, the V23 was Malaysia’s best-selling non-national EV last month, and iCaur is now the country’s third best-selling EV brand (both for May and year-to-date).

To thank customers, the carmaker is upgrading the power battery, drive unit, and high-voltage component warranty warranty for all 2026-registered vehicles to 10 years/200,000 km (up from eight years/160,000 km). The vehicle warranty stays at seven years/150,000 km.

iCaur Malaysia currently has 21 sales outlets nationwide, including a new boutique showroom at Pavilion Bukit Jalil (operated by Rover Drive Sdn Bhd) and a new full-fledged showroom in Seremban (operated by NexV Synergy Sdn Bhd). The company targets 30 sales outlets by year-end.

There are currently two iCaur vehicles on sale in Malaysia – the RM130k 03 (which is now CKD) and the RM120k-133k V23. They’re both EVs, but REEVs could be next, including this version of the 03 and this big guy.

  • MG’s IM premium sub-brand launching in Q3 2026, first model is the 787 PS/802 Nm IM6 EV shown at KLIMS

MG’s IM premium sub-brand launching in Q3 2026, first model is the 787 PS/802 Nm IM6 EV shown at KLIMS

Alongside the range of SUVs previewed by MG at the Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show (KLIMS) 2026 is the IM6 from SAIC Motor’s premium brand IM. Much like Zeekr’s position in the Geely Group, IM pushes the boundaries in performance, tech and design for the Shanghai car giant.

Before we introduce the car, here’s the significance – IM is coming to Malaysia; in fact, the target is to kick off in early Q3 2026. Unlike in China where it’s a standalone brand, IM will be ‘parked’ under MG here, which means that the models will be called ‘MG IM’ instead of just ‘IM’ – this is also the case in Thailand and Australia.

Spearheading the push is the IM6 EV you see here, which will arrive in Malaysia as a CBU import from China. The IM6 is MG’s rival to the BYD Sealion 7 and Xpeng G6, and at 4,904 mm long and 1,988 mm wide, it has a larger footprint than those two. The 2,950 mm wheelbase is also longer than the Sealion 7’s by 20 mm. Boot volume is 596 litres, expandable to 1,571 litres with the rear seats folded, and there’s a bonus of a 32L frunk.

MG’s IM premium sub-brand launching in Q3 2026, first model is the 787 PS/802 Nm IM6 EV shown at KLIMS

What do you think of IM6 design? It’s very curvy, but the surprise is at the back, which reminds us of the Aston Martin DBX. Those wheels look like those on the GWM Ora 07 Performance too, but overall the big MG is its own organic thing next to the conventional BYD and spaceship Xpeng.

In Thailand, the base Premium RWD powertrain has a motor at the rear making 295 PS (217 kW) and 450 Nm of torque, good for 0-100 km/h in 5.9 seconds. The battery is a 75 kWh lithium-ion NMC unit and claimed range is 450 km WLTP. Max charging rates are 11 kW AC and 153 kW DC, and there’s a 6.6 kW V2L function to power your accessories.

The Performance AWD gets another motor at the front for a total of 787 PS (572 kW), 802 Nm and a 0-100 km/h time of just 3.48 seconds. If this sounds like a lot, it is – the IM6 might be close to the Xpeng G6 and BYD Sealion 7 in size, but this level of performance is in Lotus Eletre territory.

MG’s IM premium sub-brand launching in Q3 2026, first model is the 787 PS/802 Nm IM6 EV shown at KLIMS

Also an NMC unit, the battery capacity is 100 kWh and WLTP range is 505 km. As for charging, the Performance AWD’s max rate is 22 kW AC and 396 kW DC, and getting from 10-80% SoC takes less than 20 minutes. Top speed is 240 km/h, 40 km/h higher than the RWD.

The range-topper also gets air suspension that auto adjusts to three levels – normal, 20 mm higher or 50 mm lower – according to driving mode. The IM6 comes with four-wheel steering and disc brakes with orange calipers from Continental. Wheels are 20-inch for the RWD and 21-inch for the Performance AWD, which also gets a more conventional/sporty design with a black finish.

The IM6 is very well-equipped, and standard kit includes all-around acoustic glass all around, panoramic roof, flush door handles, power boot with kick-to-open, NFC key card, synthetic leather on the seats that look like a sofa (or bread!), eight-way powered driver’s seat with lumbar, six-way powered front passenger seat, ventilated front seats and a 26.3-inch main screen.

The controls on the centre console are also in a screen, but there are two stalks, one for gear selection. Other equipment includes a surround view camera, 20-speaker sound system, 256-colour ambient lighting, dual-zone automatic air con with PM2.5 filter and rear vents, and a wireless phone charger. Of course, there’s also wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay plus the full ADAS pack.

In Thailand, the IM6 Premium RWD is priced at 1,349,900 baht (RM167,008) while the Performance AWD costs 1,749,900 baht (RM216,493). MG Thailand has a lifetime warranty for the EV battery, motor and control unit. The rest of the car is protected for five years or 160,000 km.

Being a CBU imported EV with no existing stock, don’t expect this car’s price to be below RM300k under MITI’s new regulations, but you’re getting a high level of kit and performance here. IM’s Malaysian debut “highlights SAIC Motor Malaysia’s broader direction as it expands beyond conventional and electrified powertrains into next-generation premium EVs,” the company says.

So, what do you think of the MG IM6’s design and specs? If you’re heading to KLIMS 2026, which opens to the public today till June 21, check it out at the MG booth.

  • Xpeng P7 currently on display in Malaysia at KLIMS – big EV sedan with up to 594 PS, 820 km CLTC range

Xpeng P7 currently on display in Malaysia at KLIMS – big EV sedan with up to 594 PS, 820 km CLTC range

This is the second-generation Xpeng P7, which is currently on display at this year’s Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) alongside the facelifted G6 and X9.

The P7 is a large car, measuring 5,017 mm long and with a wheelbase that spans 3,008 mm. At 1,970 mm wide and 1,427 mm tall, it sports a low stance compounded by its X-shaped lighting signature and muscular shoulders. In China, the top variant of the P7 comes with front gullwing doors but we’re not sure if this one has them because the show car was locked and cordoned off.

Still, it’s not like the P7’s interior is a mystery because we’ve already gotten into it at this year’s Auto China (also known as Auto Beijing). The cabin is minimalistic as it is in other Xpeng models, with standouts being an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, a 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen as well as powered front seats with heating, ventilation and massage functions.

Built on an 800-volt architecture, Chinese customers can choose from 702 Max, 820 Max, 750 4WD Max and 750 4WD Wing Ultra variants, the last with the fancy doors. The 702 Max gets a 74.9-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery that is good for up to 702 km following the CLTC standard. This variant features a rear electric motor rated at 367 PS (362 hp or 270 kW) and 465 Nm of torque for a 0-100 km/h time of 5.8 seconds.

Xpeng P7 currently on display in Malaysia at KLIMS – big EV sedan with up to 594 PS, 820 km CLTC range

Next up, the 820 Max keeps the same motor but switches to a 92.2-kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery for up to 820 km and a slightly quicker century sprint time of 5.4 seconds. Meanwhile, the 750 AWD Max keeps the NMC battery but adds another electric motor at the front for all-wheel drive, which is setup that applies to the 750 4WD Wing Ultra.

Total system output rises to 594 PS (586 hp or 437 kW) and 695 Nm as a result, further reducing the 0-100 km/h time to 3.7 seconds. The P7’s batteries support 5C charging, with a 10-80% state of charge requiring around 12 minutes (LFP) or 11.3 minutes (NMC).

If you’re hoping for this electric vehicle (EV) to be launched in Malaysia soon, sorry. We’ve checked with Bermaz Xpeng and were told the P7 is only here to be showcased and isn’t planned for our market for now. The latter also applies to the P7+, a larger and cheaper version of the P7i, which itself was a refresh of the first-generation P7.

  • Perodua QV-E G+ Edition concept at KLIMS – bodykit, seat covers, floor mats, previews GearUp accessories?

Perodua QV-E G+ Edition concept at KLIMS – bodykit, seat covers, floor mats, previews GearUp accessories?

Perodua’s focus at the Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show (KLIMS) may have been the, um, intriguing C2 Concept, but it has also shown derivatives of its current models at its stand. One of these is a QV-E EV festooned with a carbon fibre-print bodykit called the G+ Edition.

Now, you can’t buy this car – at least, not yet. However, the G in its name could only stand for GearUp, the national carmaker’s successful accessories brand. Perhaps we’ll see these addenda being offered for the company’s first fully in-house-developed model in the near future.

Anyway, on to the car itself. If you thought the standard QV-E looked sporty enough, you haven’t clapped eyes on the G+ Edition, which is very aggressive. The car’s slim lower grille with hexagonal inserts has been replaced by a much larger mesh-covered piece with multiple horizontal and vertical slats, joined by a sizeable splitter that even has a “forged carbon” inlay within it.

Perodua QV-E G+ Edition concept at KLIMS – bodykit, seat covers, floor mats, previews GearUp accessories?

There are also deeper side skirts and a massive, rather heavy-looking diffuser-like rear valance, again with the fake forged carbon. Completing the look are the twin tailgate spoilers and some wheel arch extensions that make the stock 18-inch aero wheels – which are plenty big enough on the regular QV-E – appear lost within them. There’s a carbon wrap on the bonnet and mirrors, too.

Inside, the G+ Edition gains GearUp’s typical black and red leather seat covers, here featuring almost chequered flag-like perforations forming a centre strip. New floor mats with G+ branding and red borders help jazz up the QV-E’s rather underwhelming interior.

Perodua QV-E G+ Edition concept at KLIMS – bodykit, seat covers, floor mats, previews GearUp accessories?

As a recap, the QV-E is powered by a single front motor producing 204 PS (150 kW) and 285 Nm of torque, enabling it to get from zero to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds on its way to a top speed of 165 km/h. A 52.5 kWh LFP battery delivers a range of 370 km on the WLTP cycle.

As for charging, the QV-E supports up to 60 kW of DC fast charging, topping up the battery from 30 to 80% in 30 minutes. It also accepts up to 6.6 kW of AC charging for a full charge in eight hours. Priced at RM80,000, the car can only be purchased with a leased battery that costs RM275 per month on a nine-year contract.

  • Top 20 EV brands in May 2026 – Proton already beats its full-year 2025 tally; Perodua climbs to 10th

Top 20 EV brands in May 2026 – Proton already beats its full-year 2025 tally; Perodua climbs to 10th

Proton continues to dominate when it comes to electric vehicle (EV) registrations this year. According to the latest data from the road transport department (JPJ) for the month ending May 2026, a total of 1,779 Proton EVs were registered last month. That is down from the 2,408 units it managed in April as the broader market cooled, but the national brand remains comfortably out in front.

More significantly, Proton’s year-to-date (YTD) tally now stands at 11,642 units, which means it has already crossed into five figures and surpassed what it managed for the whole of last year. For context, the total number of Proton EVs registered for the whole of 2025 was 8,890 units, good enough for a second-place finish behind BYD with 14,407 units. Proton has now beaten that full-year figure with seven months of 2026 still to go.

On the mention of BYD, the popular Chinese EV brand trailed Proton in second place with 925 units in May. That is down from its April high of 1,413 units as it prepared for the launch of the Atto 3 facelift, but it keeps BYD well clear in second with a YTD total of 4,599 units.

Coming in third is iCaur with 522 units (2,071 YTD), while Zeekr claimed fourth with 413 units (1,627 YTD), up 15.7% on April. The big mover, however, is Leapmotor, which more than doubled its April figure to 237 units to climb to fifth (666 YTD), a result that also earned it a place in the overall top 20 brands for May. Tesla follows in sixth with 197 units and has now joined the brands past 1,000 YTD at 1,027 units.

Top 20 EV brands in May 2026 – Proton already beats its full-year 2025 tally; Perodua climbs to 10th

Xpeng takes seventh with 179 units, the brand’s best single-month result this year, for a YTD tally of 573 units. MG is eighth with 138 units (717 YTD), up 50% on the month, followed by TQ Wuling in ninth with 100 units (341 YTD). Completing the top ten is Perodua, which continues to ramp up deliveries of the QV-E, its first and only EV, climbing from 14th in April to 10th with 80 units (144 YTD).

In 11th place is MINI with 72 units (232 YTD), followed by BMW in 12th with 65 units (277 YTD). Dongfeng nearly doubled its April figure to 61 units (184 YTD) for 13th, ahead of Great Wall Motor in 14th with 56 units (233 YTD) and Volvo in 15th with 41 units (258 YTD).

The remaining five brands in the top 20 are GAC Aion, which jumped to 37 units in 16th (52 YTD), Denza in 17th with 34 units (178 YTD), Porsche in 18th with 22 units (92 YTD), Chery in 19th with 19 units (63 YTD) and Neta in 20th with 16 units (80 YTD).

Top 20 EV brands in May 2026 – Proton already beats its full-year 2025 tally; Perodua climbs to 10th

In total, 5,038 EVs were registered in May, down from 5,894 units in April in line with the wider market. You can explore the full month-by-month and YTD breakdowns, by brand, model, body type and fuel, on our car sales data tool.

  • Jetour G700 makes Malaysian debut at KLIMS 2026 – 2.0T PHEV SUV, 904 PS/1,135 Nm, 0-100 km/h 4.6 secs!

    Jetour G700 makes Malaysian debut at KLIMS 2026 – 2.0T PHEV SUV, 904 PS/1,135 Nm, 0-100 km/h 4.6 secs!

Besides the T2 i-DM PHEV (which is now open for booking at an estimated RM168,888), you’ll see the big Jetour G700 on Jetour Malaysia’s Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) 2026 stand. The press release bills this as a concept (OK, we suppose a production car wouldn’t have ‘新手上路’ on the tail lamps!), but as far as we can tell, it’s pretty much the car that’s been on sale in China since October.

When we saw the car in China in April, there were two different grilles – an egg-crate style with the ‘JETOUR’ script and a much neater black honeycomb-ish affair with two chrome strips and the new Jetour ‘JT’ logo (also on the rear spare tyre cover), which was unveiled for Malaysia in February. At KLIMS is the latter, but which face do you prefer?

Length, width, height and wheelbase are respectively 5,198, 2,050, 1,956 and 2,870 mm. In China, the GWM Tank 500 rival can be had with six or seven seats – the car you see here is the former. It’s a PHEV – you get a 2.0 litre turbo engine, a 34.13 kWh CATL battery, a 904 PS/1,135 Nm total system output, a 4.6-second 0-100 km/h time (faster than Denza B8!), a 150-km CLTC EV-only range, a 1,400-km CLTC combined range, 170 kW DC charging (30-80% in 10 minutes!) and 6.6 kW vehicle-to-load (V2L).

Equipment in China includes a 35.4-inch horizontal display strip that runs along the base of the windscreen, a 15.6-inch touch-screen, a 17.3-inch screen that folds out from the ceiling between the front and rear sunroof sections, an 8.8-inch rear touch-screen, front seats with heating, ventilation and massage, and up to 18 Lexicon speakers. Excited? Next year can’t come soon enough! By the way, once upon a time, a G700 meant something else entirely.

GWM at KLIMS 2026 – see the new ORA 5 HEV and HAVAL H7 Hi4 PHEV, enjoy event-exclusive offers

No doubt you’re gearing up for one of the most significant motor shows on the Malaysian calendar – the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) 2026, set to take place at MITEC this June 12-21. Hyundai Ioniq 6 N

At last, Hyundai has brought the high-performance N brand into Malaysia for real this time, after multiple false dawns with limited-run units. The Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) saw the launch of the electric Ioniq 5 N and Ioniq 6 N, the latter also making its first appearance here.

Let’s start with pricing, with both cars arriving slightly below their estimates. The Ioniq 5 N is priced at RM443,888 on-the-road without insurance, while the 6 N is only a little bit dearer at RM449,888. Both figures include an eight-year/160,000 km warranty for not just the battery but for the entire vehicle.

For a limited time, buyers will receive a launch package consisting of either a free AC wallbox charger or RM1,800 in JomCharge credits, N merchandise worth up to RM2,000 and interest rates as low as 1.97% per annum. It should be noted that the cars will be offered on an indent basis and are made to order.

    Hyundai Ioniq 6 N

The pricing may seem steep, especially given that the Tesla Model 3 Performance offers a similar amount of, well, performance at just over half the money. But remember that there were whispers of the tax-free Ioniq 5 N retailing at around RM390,000 – before its launch was postponed when Hyundai Motor Malaysia (HMY) took over the distributorship last year – and EVs CBU fully imported from the republic are now slapped with the standard 50% of combined import and excise duties.

In any case, the N models are very serious machines, both powered by dual motors that push out 226 PS (166 kW) at the front and 383 PS (282 kW) at the rear. Together, they produce 609 PS (448 kW) and 740 Nm of torque – or 650 PS (478 kW) and 750 Nm with the sillily-named N Grin Boost (NGB) mode engaged.

Turn on N Launch Control and the Ioniq 5 N is able to blitz its way to 100 km/h 3.4 seconds on its way to a top speed of 260 km/h. Meanwhile, the slightly lighter Ioniq 6 N completes the century sprint in just 3.2 seconds, but despite its sleeker shape, its top whack is actually a bit lower at 257 km/h.

    Hyundai Ioniq 6 N

Maximising the cars’ performance are a set of tools such as an 11-step N Torque Distribution that shunts power variably between the front and rear axles, the N Race function with Sprint (full power and cooling for hot laps) and Endurance (maximum range for longer drives) modes, a similarly-configured N Battery Preconditioning with Drag and Track modes (the latter has been replaced by Sprint and Endurance modes on the 6 N) and two custom N buttons on the steering wheel.

Perhaps the most well-known of these features are those that simulate a sporting petrol powertrain. These are N e-Shift that apes the gearshifts of an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, paired with the N Active Sound+ that can mimic the sound of the i30 N’s 2.0 litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine or even a fighter jet. The noise is piped through the eight-speaker Bose sound system and dual exterior speakers.

The 6 N gets an enhanced version of the system that tweaks the sound of the “petrol engine” (Ignition) and swaps out the fighter jet noise (Supersonic) with a “futuristic sci-fi” mode called Lightspeed. The “gear ratios” are also shorter in N e-Shift mode, and on both models you can now use this feature in all modes – yes, even in Eco mode with the cruise control on – which wasn’t possible on initial 5 N units.

    Hyundai Ioniq 5 N

It’s not just straight-line speed that’s the focus here – the N duo can also party in the corners, with an N Drift Optimiser that now allows users to adjust the initiation and angle of the drift as well as the amount of wheel spin in steps to match their skill level and driving style. There’s also an N Pedal function that uses regenerative braking to simulate left-foot braking, initiating weight transfer and reducing understeer.

These toys go hand-in-hand with the far-reaching chassis tweaks that include additional spot-welding points and structural adhesive. The 5 N also gains some inner wheelhouse strengthening to improve steering response, as well as more rigid suspension mounts. Meanwhile, the 6 N receives a rear cowl cross bar and additional subframe mounting, rear wheelhouse reinforcement and a stiffer underbody cover.

All this helps to increase torsional stiffness over their respective base models, by as much as 19.8% in the case of the 6 N. Also exclusive to the N models is bespoke suspension tuning and an electronic limited-slip differential to enhance agility, as well as larger brakes with 400 mm discs at the front.

    Hyundai Ioniq 6 N

Not that range is a big consideration for these cars, but with an 84 kWh NMC battery, the Ioniq 5 N and Ioniq 6 N can travel up to 448 km and 487 km on a single charge respectively on the WLTP cycle. The second-generation pack – shared with the facelifted Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 – provides an increase in DC fast charging power, allowing them to be topped up from 10 to 80% in just 18 minutes despite a mild battery capacity upgrade over the pre-facelifted models.

Setting the N models apart from the regular Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 are flared fenders housing fatter forged wheels and Pirelli P Zero Elect tyres (measuring 21 inches for the 5 N and 20 inches for the 6 N), aggressive front and rear bumpers and red accents. Being a sedan, the Ioniq 6 N – based on the facelifted Ioniq 6, hence the split headlights – gains a swan-neck rear wing.

Inside, both models receive a bespoke N steering wheel with additional buttons for the various performance functions, along with (manually-adjustable) leather and Alcantara bucket seats with illuminated N logos and “chequered flag” pedals. They also get the upgraded connected car Navigation System (ccNS) for the 12.3-inch instrument and infotainment displays that finally add wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The 5 N also gains a fixed centre console with knee pads to support your knees under hard cornering. You still get a sliding armrest as well as USB-C ports and a Qi wireless charger, but as this is the latest updated version, the car gains not only the powertrain software updates from the 6 N but also minor spec updates like double-glazed rear windows.

Meanwhile, the 6 N receives welcome upgrades from the facelifted Ioniq 6, most notably the new centre console with twin USB-C ports and a more compact and fully-featured physical control panel that frees up space for more storage. A built-in mount in the roof – allowing you to attach an action camera – is also unique to the 6 N, as is a Track Manager lap timer and analyser.

    Hyundai Ioniq 5 N (left) and 6 N

Safety-wise, the 5 N and 6 N come with a full list of driver assists, including autonomous emergency braking with junction turning auto brake, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, curve speed reduction, lane centring assist, auto lane change, blind spot monitoring with collision avoidance, rear cross traffic alert with auto brake and adaptive high beam.

The list of colours available for the 5 N is vast and includes Atlas White, Cyber Grey Metallic, Abyss Black Pearl, Ecotronic Grey Pearl and Soultronic Orange Pearl for the gloss options, as well as matte Atlas White, Gravity Gold and Ecotronic Grey.

A more restricted palette for the 6 N lists Serenity White Pearl, Nocturne Grey Metallic, Abyss Black and matte Nocturne Grey and Gravity Gold. Of course, both cars can be had in N’s signature Performance Blue, offered in solid and matte versions for the 5 N and pearl for the 6 N.

The road transport department (JPJ) has released its latest vehicle registration data for the month ending May 2026, and Perodua is once again on top. The national carmaker registered 24,480 units last month, easing off from the 32,065 units it managed in April as the overall market cooled, but it comfortably extends its lead with a year-to-date (YTD) total of 130,778 units.

Proton holds on to second place with 16,140 units, bringing its YTD tally to 82,560 units. Toyota stays third and was the only brand in the top three to grow on the month, with 9,632 units in May, up 6.4% on April and its best single-month result so far this year (this figure also includes recon units), for a YTD total of 40,886 units.

Outside the top three is Honda in fourth with 3,686 units (21,252 YTD), followed by Omoda | Jaecoo in fifth with 1,328 units (6,543 YTD). Mitsubishi takes sixth with 1,182 units (5,819 YTD), holding the position it climbed to in April on the back of Xforce deliveries.

Mazda CX-60 3.3L MHEV launched in Malaysia – inline-six cylinder turbo petrol, CBU Japan; RM252k OTR

Bermaz has expanded the CX-60 lineup with the launch of the range-topping 3.3L MHEV variant, which joins the 2.5L version introduced in September.

Shown at the 2026 Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS 2026), the upmarket SUV with the 3.3L inline-six cylinder turbocharged, mild-hybrid powertrain combined with all-wheel-drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission is offered in two variants, both priced at RM252,872 on-the-road without insurance.

Rated to produce 284 PS from 5,000 rpm to 6,000 rpm and 450 Nm from 2,300 rpm to 3,500 rpm, the turbocharged petrol engine is augmented by a 48-volt mild-hybrid system which Mazda calls M Hybrid Boost, which features an integrated starter generator rated at 16 PS and 153 Nm, drawing from a 0.33 kWh lithium-ion battery.

Though identically priced, the two variants of the CX-60 3.3G AWD High Plus – to go by its official designation – are differentiated by specific parts. Internally codenamed KMES RA6 and RA7, the version with the RA6 suffix gets 20-inch alloy wheels in a black metallic finish, while the RA7 version (photographed here) gets the same wheels in a two-tone machined finish. The two are also differentiated inside; more on that to come.

These wheels and tyres are of the same dimensions, shod in 235/50R20 tyres across both 3.3L turbo mild-hybrid and 2.5L naturally aspirated variants. Being on the same Large Product Group architecture with a longitudinal engine layout, all CX-60 variants get double-wishbone front and multi-link rear suspension, as well as Kinematic Posture Control as standard.

Other shared equipment across the range includes LED headlamps and taillights with signature illumination, LED daytime running lights, keyless entry and start, a panoramic sunroof with sliding and tilt glass, and front and rear parking sensors.

Also on are a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a windshield-projected head-up display, paddle shifters, dual-zone climate control with rear vents, a 10-way powered driver’s seat, a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, a 12-speaker Bose sound system and a wireless charger. The 3.3G High Plus also gains 12-way adjustable front seats with ventilation.

Where the two versions of the CX-60 3.3G AWD High Plus differ is in the upholstery. The RA6 version gets the Nappa leather interior in Tan with a Tan/Black two-tone steering wheel, while the RA7 is specified with the same material in White, with the steering wheel in black, in addition to the aforementioned different alloy wheel finishes.

For safety and assistance functions, there are seven airbags, adaptive LED headlamps, blind spot monitoring, front and rear cross traffic alert, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, emergency lane keeping assist, driver attention alert, front and rear Smart Brake Support (autonomous emergency braking), Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) with stop and go as well as high-speed Cruising & Traffic Support (CTS), in addition to passive safety systems.

For exterior colours, the Mazda CX-60 3.3G AWD High Plus is available in Rhodium White, Zircon Sand, Platinum Quartz, Soul Red Crystal and Jet Black, and a new addition, Machine Gray is exclusive to the 3.3G AWD High Plus. The CX-60 comes with a five-year, 100,000-km manufacturer’s warranty and free service package.

MG QS previewed in Malaysia – seven-seat premium SUV, 2.0 litre turbo, 208 PS and 360 Nm, AWD

Besides the MG ZS, for which the order books have opened, SAIC Motor Malaysia has a few other vehicles on show at the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) 2026, which opens to the public tomorrow and runs until June 21. One of these is the MG QS. The premium seven-seat SUV hasn’t been officially earmarked for our market, but is being used to gauge public interest.

Measuring in at 4,983 mm long, 1,967 mm wide and 1,778 mm tall, with a 2,915 mm-long wheelbase, the QS is certainly not diminutive, and is positioned very much as a family-oriented offering. The three full-size rows feature a sliding second row to aid load capacity or provide additional legroom. With both second and third rows folded, the rear offers up to 1,052 litres of cargo space.

In certain markets, the powertrain line-up includes a PHEV, but the mainstay performer is a 2.0 litre turbocharged petrol engine offering 208 PS (205 hp) and 360 Nm, which is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Two drive configurations are available, front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, the latter to be found on the KLIMS display example.

Kit includes dual 12.3-inch instrument display and infotainment screens, a panoramic sunroof, tri-zone air-conditioning (with vents for second and third rows), a powered tailgate, with the top-spec Ultimate AWD variant also featuring premium leather upholstery, heated/ventilated front seats and a high-end 12-speaker Bose sound system. The variant also rides on 21-inch alloys, wrapped with 235/45 profile tyres.

The safety and driving assistance equipment list includes seven airbags and a full ADAS suite, with adaptive cruise control, AEB, lane change and lane keep assist, lane departure warning, rear cross traffic alert and braking among the host of items in that bag.

  • Kia K4 previewed in Malaysia – Forte/Cerato successor shown at KLIMS in GT-Line spec with 193 PS 1.6T

Kia K4 previewed in Malaysia – Forte/Cerato successor shown at KLIMS in GT-Line spec with 193 PS 1.6T

Kia Sales Malaysia (KSM) is showing off the Kia K4 at this year’s Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS), although the company isn’t saying if the Honda Civic rival will be launched here anytime soon.

The K4 is the successor to the Forte and Cerato, both previously also known as the K3, a name which has now been used for a B-segment sedan that replaces the Rio. First making its debut in March 2024 as a sedan, which is what you’ll see at KLIMS, the K4 would later gain a hatchback version in September 2025 and a wagon (called the Sportswagon) in January this year.

Measuring 4,710 mm long, 1,850 mm wide, 1,420 mm tall and with a wheelbase spanning 2,720 mm, the K4 sedan occupies a larger footprint than the Civic, although the later has a slightly superior wheelbase.

Kia K4 previewed in Malaysia – Forte/Cerato successor shown at KLIMS in GT-Line spec with 193 PS 1.6T

Design-wise, the K4 showcases the brand’s ‘Opposites United’ philosophy with its star map signature lighting that is accompanied by small cube LED projector headlamps and a modern take on the ‘Tiger Face’.

You’ll also find a fastback profile and prominent haunches over the wheels, while the rear bumper incorporates an air diffuser. This show car rides on 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 235/40 profile tyres, with MacPherson struts at the front and a multi-link rear setup.

It also gets the GT-Line package, hence the different front and rear, gloss black accents, satin chrome beltline as well as gloss black mirror caps, window trim and side sills.

Inside, there’s a two-tier dashboard with a widescreen display panel consisting of a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 5-inch climate display and a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen. KSM says the car comes with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a wireless charger, dual-zone climate control, ventilated front seats and a 60:40 split-folding rear bench.

Powering this K4 is a Smartstream G 1.6 litre turbocharged inline-four petrol engine that makes 193 PS (190 hp or 142 kW) and 265 Nm of torque. The T-GDI mill is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission sending drive to the front wheels. A VTEC Turbo-equipped Civic makes less power than this at 182 PS (180 hp or 134 kW) and 240 Nm.

According to KSM, the K4 is only here for a preview and there’s no indication for now that the sedan will eventually go on sale in Malaysia. What do you think though? Do you like what the K4 has to offer?

  • Nissan X-Trail e-Power e-4orce launching in Malaysia Q4 – T33 facelift makes regional debut at KLIMS 2026

    Nissan X-Trail e-Power e-4orce launching in Malaysia Q4 – T33 facelift makes regional debut at KLIMS 2026

Taking centrestage at Edaran Tan Chong Motor‘s (ETCM) Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) 2026 stand is indeed the Nissan X-Trail e-Power. Deja vu? Well, not quite, as this is the T33 facelift (the one at KLIMS 2024 was the pre-facelift), and now ETCM has confirmed that the model will launch in Malaysia in the fourth quarter this year.

This is actually a regional debut for the T33 facelift, as Indonesia and Thailand still have the pre-facelift. What’s different here? Well, there’re still two tiers of front lights, but there’s a new V-motion grille – it was previously just a bowl with dashes inside, but there’re now horizontal slats. New front and rear bumpers too – up front, the C-shaped ‘cut-outs’ on the sides now touch the lower intake surround.

The X-Trail e-Power’s 1.5 litre KR15DDT turbo three-cylinder engine with VC-Turbo variable compression has only one job, which is to charge a 1.8-kWh lithium-ion battery. This battery feeds two electric motors – 204 PS/330 Nm up front and 136 PS/195 Nm out back – so it has e-4orce AWD. Like the Serena e-Power and Kicks e-Power, there’s e-Pedal one-pedal driving.

The seven-seater in pre-facelift form is quite similarly-equipped in Thailand and Indonesia, getting 19-inch alloys, a hands-free powered tailgate, a panoramic sunroof, black leather upholstery, powered front seats, a 40:20:40-split second row, a 50:50-split third row, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch touch-screen, a 10.8-inch head-up display, Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, nine Bose speakers, a 15-watt wireless charger, a 360 camera with Moving Object Detection, and three-zone air-con.

    2026 Xpeng X9 AWD Performance

The 2WD Standard Range gets a 94.8 KWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery that is rated for up to 537 km of range on the WLTP testing standard, while the 2WD Long Range and AWD Performance both receive a 110 kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery, for 615 km (WLTP) and 580 km (WLTP) respectively.

Fast charging via DC is significantly stepped up compared to the pre-facelift, with the updated model now from 537 kW for the 2WD Standard Range, while the 2WD Long Range and AWD Performance with the larger battery goes even higher with 542 kW DC charging; all variants therefore attain the 10-80% recharge in 12 minutes.

Both 2WD versions get a 346 PS/450 Nm single-motor setup driving the front wheels, with the Standard Range doing 0-100 km/h in 8.2 seconds; the Long Range is marginally quicker at 7.75 seconds. The dual-motor AWD Performance boasts of 537 PS and 640 Nm, propelling the MPV to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds.

All variants of the X9 facelift in Malaysia from launch are of a seven-seat configuration, where the Standard Range and Long Range variants get 14-way power-adjustable second-row seats.

The second row in the AWD Performance gets upgraded to a more luxurious “Grand Sofa” specification, offering 18-way adjustment. Across all variants are two 50-watt air-cooled wireless device chargers, along with seat cushion and backrest ventilation and heating (three-speed adjustable).

The third row offers 60:40 split-folding, where the seats fold into the floor, and also offer electrically adjustable backrests and headrests, and two cupholders. Also included in the luggage compartment is a switch to raise or lower the vehicle on its suspension.

Interior displays feature a 10.25-inch driver’s instrument display, a 17.3-inch central screen, a 21.4-inch roof-mounted passenger entertainment screen, a 21-inch head-up display, while device connectivity includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with five USB-C, one USB-A and two 12-volt power sockets. Audio is by a 27-speaker Xopera sound system.

Honda HR-V e:HEV – the complete SUV that balances fuel efficiency, safety and versatility; now with 360 cam

There’s no shortage of options in the market, especially for the SUV segment. If anything, consumers might be spoilt for choice, making a decision less than straightforward. Perhaps it’s time to sit back, take a wider view and ask yourself – what do you truly want in a family car?

Fuel efficiency to make your Budi95 quota go further every month? Top-level safety to keep your family safe? Ultimate versatility for everything that an active lifestyle throws at you? The Honda HR-V checks all boxes, and then some.

In e:HEV hybrid form, the Honda HR-V delivers performance and efficiency in equal measure. The powertrain combines a 107 PS/131 Nm DOHC i-VTEC Atkinson-cycle with an 131 PS/253 Nm electric motor. The engine primarily acts as a generator but can also drive the front wheels at higher speeds as ICE is more efficient than EV at a fast cruise. In daily driving, the e-motor’s 253 Nm from standstill provides pep in cut and thrust urban driving.

Best of all, the HR-V e:HEV returns fantastic fuel economy – with FC of 4.1 litres per 100 km (24.4 km/l), this hybrid will go the distance with your fuel budget.

Honda believes in safety for all, and the Honda SENSING suite of ADAS features is available across the entire HR-V range. Forward Collision Warning, Collision Mitigation Braking System, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist System, Road Departure Mitigation System, Adaptive Cruise Control with Low Speed Follow, Auto High Beam and Lead Car Departure Notification are all standard fit.

For a vehicle serving an owner with an active lifestyle, or a family, user friendliness, space and versatility are important factors. Big screens and light shows might be eye-catching in the showroom, but it’s things like a spacious rear cabin and Honda’s famed Multi Utility Seat that truly shine in everyday use.

The HR-V’s Multi Utility Seat features Utility Mode where the rear seats are folded down to boost boot space, Long Mode where the front passenger seat is also folded down to fit long items, and Tall Mode. The latter flips up the rear seat base for the rear cabin to transport tall items, upright. This is a nifty idea that you won’t appreciate until you need it.

Honda has been making cars since the 1960s, and its decades of experience means that the company excels in interior packaging and driver ergonomics. All frequently used functions are presented via conveniently located physical controls, ensuring that your full attention is where it’s supposed to be – on the road ahead and not fiddling with sub-menus of a touchscreen. The HR-V’s good all-round visibility is now enhanced with a 360° View Camera, which live feed on the centre screen assists with parking.

Many of the above features might sound basic, but you’ll be surprised at how many cars today get the simple things wrong. Things like good fuel efficiency, comprehensive safety, space versatility and ergonomics might not be as attention-grabbing as big horsepower and big screens, but they combine to deliver a satisfying long-term ownership experience that just works.

The 360° View Camera is now available on the Honda HR-V e:HEV and V variants, with no price increase. Experience the HR-V and test it out for size with the family at your nearest Honda showroom. More info here. Follow Honda Malaysia on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.

Perodua teases new model with QV-E styling at KLIMS, coming soon – next-gen Myvi, Bezza?

Such is the sheer number of cars and displays at Perodua’s Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) stand that you’d be forgiven for missing a “Coming Soon” screen at the centre of it all. It’s not helped by the fact that the LED panels frequently rotate, rather annoyingly obscuring what they’re showing.

But if you’re patient, you’ll be able to spot a few shadowy angles of a new model from the national carmaker. At first, the full-width light bar across the front end and the bonnet-mounted Perodua badge brings to mind the QV-E, but the vertical illuminated lines on either corner marks the car out as something entirely different.

The headlights are also integrated into the daytime running lights as a single unit, rather than being split as per the EV. Also visible in the video are inverted L-shaped taillights.

Perodua teases new model with QV-E styling at KLIMS, coming soon – next-gen Myvi, Bezza?

From what we can tell, there are only two existing models that are ripe for replacement. The current Myvi and Bezza are eight and ten years old respectively, and the next generations of both have been speculated on for some time. Of these two, the Myvi seems to be the one most in need of a refresh, given that the Bezza remains Malaysia’s most popular car (well, until last month, that is).

It’s the car’s profile that is throwing us off. The abstract flowing lines hint at a long and low car with a sleek roofline that curves towards the rear – almost like a Porsche 911. This would rule a Myvi out, as that car is supposed to be a practical, pragmatic hatchback.

We could perhaps see the Bezza adopt a fastback design, much like the latest Vios. It must be said, however, that Perodua itself has previously admitted that the next-gen sedan is still years away from entering production, so a launch this year looks unlikely. We’re also pretty certain that the car is not related to the C2 Concept also being shown at KLIMS, as it presages P2’s next EV instead.

In any case, the next Perodua model will continue to be developed in partnership with Daihatsu, as opposed to being an entirely in-house effort like the QV-E. Sporting a Perodua-designed body (or “tophat”), it should continue to utilise the ubiquitous 106 PS/ 1.5 litre 2NR-VE naturally-aspirated four-cylinder engine and a Dual-Mode CVT.

Perodua also has aspirations to bring hybrid powertrains to market, and this new model could be the perfect springboard. It could use either Daihatsu’s e-Smart Hybrid – which uses the electric motor for propulsion and the combustion engine solely as a generator – or Toyota’s system from the Vios and Yaris Cross that features a planetary gearset to manage the two power sources.

    Jetour T2 i-DM PHEV open for booking in Malaysia – 1.5T, 2 motors, 3-speed DHT, 1,200 km, RM169k est

Jetour has announced the start of order-taking for its first hybrid – the Jetour T2 i-DM PHEV – at an estimated price of RM168,888. Yup, the popular RM155,669 T2 (RM2,000 early-bird rebate included) can soon be had as a plug-in hybrid in Malaysia.

Thanks to a 1.5 litre turbo direct-injected engine, two electric motors and a three-speed dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT), the Jetour T2 i-DM has 360 PS and 610 Nm at its disposal (T2 ICE: 245 PS/375 Nm). EV-only and combined ranges are claimed to be over 100 km and 1,200 km respectively (cycle unspecified but likely NEDC).

Jetour Malaysia says the car will come with Level 2 ADAS, six airbags, a panoramic view monitoring system and “a comprehensive ownership and warranty package.” For context, the T2 ICE comes with a seven-year/150,000-km vehicle warranty, a 10-year/one-million-km powertrain warranty and five times’ free service (parts and labour).

No other specs have been officially released so far, but we can look at South Africa, where the right-hand drive PHEV gets 20-inch alloys, 255/55 tyres, a 15.6-inch touchscreen, a 10.25-inch instrument panel, 12 Sony speakers, a 540 camera, wireless charging, faux-leather upholstery, powered front seats, ambient lighting, a panoramic glass sunroof and a powered tailgate, according to Cars.co.za. Excited?
